I started it up, and after the bios, when the actual operating system got going, the mouse and keyboard would not work. The mouse and keyboard work on other computers or laptops, like the laptop I am on now, without having to load drivers. I even used them on a tower I had never been online before with, or loaded, as it was a used tower I got at a electronics recycle place.

The mouse and keyboard operated, after the operating system that was in the recycled computer loaded in. I took the hard drive with the operating system, I am trying to log into, out of the initial computer, and put it in the other recycled one, and it loaded into the log in screen, and the mouse and keyboard did not work again. I went into the bios and looked for anything that would be preventing it, and found nothing that I could tell.

I took the memory cards from the original defective motherboard, and put them into the new one, in hopes the drivers were on that. Didn't work. It seems like this particular hard drive with this operating system. Not the bios, not the computer it is in. What I don't want to do is reinstall the windows 10 on that hard drive.

The whole point of replacing the motherboard, was so I could get back into that operating system, because I have programs and some files, that cannot be replaced.

I was going to get a new computer anyway, but it seems like no matter what computer I put that hard drive in, it won't allow any keyboard or mouse to work once the operating system is going. Is there some hard drive lock. I know, the two goflex external drives I had connected to it by USB to the initial computer that the motherboard died,, when I attached them to this laptop, I had to go in and change ownership on one of them, because it had the files locked.

But this is a hard drive. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. All the usb ports work on the computer. One thing I did, that maybe wasn't clear. Is I took the hard drive with that operating system, I am trying to log into, and put it in another computer, and when the windows 10 started up. The keyboard and mouse stopped working, except for the lights on them stayed on. I took the hard drive from the other computer and put it in the original computer, and started it up, and the mouse and keyboard worked.

As I said, I don't want to just do a clean install. I could do that with the other hard drive, which just has an old windows 7 on it, and nothing that would matter to lose. I am thinking maybe I can do the safe mode, but I would have to do that when I turn on the computer, because once the operating system starts, to mouse and keyboard won't work.

The original motherboard that went bad, was an Hewlet packard, or the computer was. I don't know if an operating system will become linked to a computer motherboard. It does start up with the other motherboards, but the mouse and keyboard just don't work. When I bought the computer, the operating system was already installed from the store.

I think it initially was windows 7 or vista. But over the years Microsoft supplied updates, which eventually included the free update to windows The keyboard and mouse worked in it, it was only after I replaced the motherboard. The operating system when run through other motherboards, the mouse and keyboard don't work. Threats include any threat of suicide, violence, or harm to another. Some how I got into the windows recovery.

I was messing around with the Bios, then started the OS and it didn't start up right this time, and it went to windows RE. I set the computer to power on, by the keyboard 98 in the bios and saved it, then started up the operating system, and it didn't start right.

If that causes more problems after the reset, I put that back to the default. It reinstalled windows 10, and kept the files and most settings for the computer.

I did lose all the programs I had, that cannot be replaced. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. It shows in the steps I gave you how to use the Repair Mode WinRE which uses different drivers so the devices might work, and if not how to create and boot the latest installation media which also provides it's own separate drivers that may also work if Windows and WinRE don't.

So try those as well as all other steps which are collected from what has worked best helping in thousands of these cases I have handled in WIndows In reply to NyaiTuppi's post on June 30, I was messing around with the Bios, then started the OS and it didn't start up right this time, and it went to windows RE I chose system reset but to keep the files. I was able to get into windows recovery. More or less by accident.

I chose reset but keep files. I am on the computer now. The mouse and keyboard did work after the reset. MS edge does make a browser file of al he programs that were deleted. I am going through it, and getting more and more bummed about what they were.

I wish the help was a little more proactive. But I know it is free and by choice. Yes, as my written instructions said i fyou power off and on twice then the third time it will start into WinRe repair mode.

Are you following the steps I gave you at all? Those are steps that I've given thousands of times for this very same issue and it's always fixed the problem. May I ask why you are not following these steps I wrote out for you? This is an interactive process.

Windows 10 keyboard and mouse not working at startup free -

I have this PC for over 6 months and it worked fine until around the 4th of january, when i tried to connect a device and got the message:. When i restarted my PC there was suddenly no mouse to show, eventhough it was connected.

No input from keyboard either. For the last couple days i've been searching for solutions, but nothing that is working, or things i'm simply unable to do. I even contacted microsoft support, they recommended me to update my BIOS or perform a clean install.

The only issue i have with this, unlike most other people experiencing similar issues, is that my keyboard and mouse aren't recognized at all. They do get power because the lights are on all the time, but they somehow don't get recognized. Also worth to mention that whenever i put them in a usb 3.

I hope someone knows what's going on, and is able to help me out. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Hi Louie, I checked out the first link you mentioned and unfortunately nothing in there has helped with my case. Previous Next. Frederik Long. Thanks for your feedback.
